Digital citizenship is a guideline for appropriate behavior for online interactions. Even though you’re not always seen, it doesn’t mean that certain types of behaviors are okay. Three of the most important traits of a digital citizen are RESPECT, APPROPRIATE USE, and PRIVACY.
- Respect– Treat others with respect. Don’t steal property that is not yours. Give credit where credit is due. An individual that emulates this trait will become a leader.
- Appropriate Use– Understand what sites are acceptable at particular places. Be able to regulate personal use and prioritize business use. Careful and cautious will come out ahead.
- Privacy– Never put anything online that you wouldn’t mind sharing in person. Respect others’ privacy. This is integrity.
